  • Social media presence is essential to marketing your practice
  • Ever-changing ideas keep your audience engaged
  • Below are some fresh, new, innovative ways to increase your social media presence

It’s no secret that social media is great for interacting with your market, establishing your brand, and targeting direct access patients. However, if you have been using social media for your business for several years now, you may feel like your social media is getting stale.

Luckily, there are plenty of fun, fresh ways for you to use your company's social media that will engage and thrill your audience!

Here are some new things you can try on a variety of social media platforms to revamp your social media presence for your private PT practice:

Facebook

Facebook is great for creating meaningful engagement and providing helpful tips and info to your audience. But simple posting isn't enough anymore.

Create a contest on your Facebook page to change things up and add some excitement! Post a photo of something cool/unique about your practice and ask your followers to like, share and comment on the post to win a prize.

Here’s a specific example: post a photo of a patient enjoying their therapy in your practice (with their written consent), and in the caption, write: “We love our patients! To show our appreciation, we’re giving away a free one-hour massage to one of our lucky followers! To enter, just like, share, and comment on this photo! A winner will be chosen on Friday!”

Then, of course, select your Facebook winner that did everything you asked. This kind of post is fun for your audience and will increase your following because so many people will be sharing your post on their personal pages.

You should also familiarize yourself with Facebook Live. This is a great way to provide personalized content to your followers.

Instagram

Instagram offers some great features that are still new, like Instagram Stories and Live Video. You could use these features to share pictures or live videos of exercises and health tips that your followers might find helpful. You can use hashtags and locations to make your content easier for your audience to find.

Here’s an example: if you have patients experiencing neck pain from looking at a computer all day at work, post videos of exercises, stretches, and pain management tips for this issue on your Instagram Story. Make sure to geo-tag your practice location and tell your followers to take action (i.e. click the link in your bio to visit your website or send you a DM to request an appointment).

YouTube

Although YouTube has been the enemy of PTs for quite some time, it can now become your friend! Your patients are likely to go to YouTube for help with their HEPs and injuries anyway, so you might as well be the channel they go to!

If you don’t have a YouTube channel, create one and post short, helpful videos on common exercises and health and wellness tips. For example, if there are common HEPs you prescribe your patients, create videos for them so that your patients can watch them at home and have expert guidance even when they’re not in your clinic. You can also share these videos on Facebook and other social media platforms to offer helpful content to your audience.

Be sure to tell your patients about your YouTube channel and send them the link to your videos so they know they can access your care 24/7.

-----------

No matter how long you’ve been managing the social media for your PT business, it’s important to keep the basics in mind and try new things. If you let your social media get stale, you may start to lose your audience and potential customers.
