What makes you get out of bed in the morning? For most of you, it’s your passion for helping people and your big dreams for your private practice.
There is no better time than now to focus on those passions and dreams because it’s National Physical Therapy Month (APTA)! October is a month for cooler weather, pumpkin candles, and giving back to the community through PT.
October 21, 2023 is the Global PT Day of Service.
Service is the name of the game in PT. You spend every day helping people in your practice because it’s what you love to do. If you also have dreams of opening more practices or retiring at a younger age, service is helping you reach those dreams as well.
For two young men, a dream turned into reality two years ago with the creation of PT Day of Service. Efosa Guobadia thought one day, “What if…” and he and Josh D’Angelo created a movement of nearly 8,000 volunteers from 42 countries in just two years.
By making their dream come true, they are able to unite PTs all over the world to help communities in need.
Why is it so important for PTs to pledge their service to their communities, and how can you help?
Transforming lives shouldn’t stop at your clinic door. You can participate in something even bigger…
There are many areas in need right now: Houston, Puerto Rico, and Las Vegas, to name a few. Find out what you can do to contribute to these disaster-stricken places.
You can help those in need in your own neighborhood. Work in a soup kitchen, donate blood to the local blood drive, organize a charity event, volunteer at an animal shelter, anything!
You can spread a culture of caring and join your colleagues to make a difference in the world. If you’re not sure how to get involved, there are ambassadors in your state who can help you find PT Day of Service events in your area.
You can pledge to serve on October's PT Day of Service here.
Your day of service could lead to a life being saved, a child being fed, and a dog finding a home. Your day of service could change the way you treat patients in your practice. Global PT Day of Service is a tremendous opportunity for personal and professional growth.
Not only are you providing services to people in need in your community, you’re also promoting your PT practice and building your reputation as a caring provider in the area.
One private practice in Las Vegas is doing its part in helping the grieving community after the tragedy earlier this month.
